Tropical Update - July 23, 2013

          A surface low pressure system several hundred miles off of the Western Coast of Africa, moving west at about 10 miles an hour. This low pressure system has a circular motion and will likely form into Tropical Storm Dorian. Even a slight increase of thunderstorm activity will likely prompt a tropical depression or storm to be created. in the next 1 to 2 days, the formation of either a tropical depression or a tropical storm has a 60 percent according to the latest update by the National Hurricane Center.

          Upper level winds are favorable for development in the region but by Thursday the upper level winds as well as the ocean temperatures will become less conducive. The track of this low pressure system is westward and possibly WNW moving towards the Dominican Republic in the next few days.
